Ministry to abused, neglected, and needy children has always been a passion for First Christian. The Colorado Christian Home was founded by John and Mary Warren and sponsored by First Christian in 1904 right here in Loveland. The campus may have changed a bit since the early days, but that legacy lives on today at Tennyson Center for Children, now located in Denver. Today the Tennyson Center at Colorado Christian Home is one of the Rocky Mountain region’s leading treatment centers for abused, neglected and at-risk youth. It was the first licensed day treatment program in Colorado back in 1981. Now, the Tennyson Center is recognized as a leader in not only the healing and protection of children from abuse and neglect, but also in the efforts to eradicate child abuse from our society. First Christian’s congregation actively supports the Tennyson Center in a variety of ways, including a large number of participants in the annual Northern Colorado fund-raising dinner. We have had volunteers and board members from our church in the past as well. If this is a passion for you, you can plug into a long and great tradition at First Christian!
